Leaving home or your home country for the first time can be a daunting experience. Helping university students with their mental health and adjustment problems is a big focus of our clinic.

Transitioning to university life brings exciting opportunities and independence, but it can also be a time of significant stress and adjustment. Many students face intense academic pressures, new social environments, and unfamiliar routines, all of which can lead to feelings of anxiety, homesickness, or overwhelm.

At Sloane Court Clinic, we provide compassionate support tailored to help students navigate these unique challenges, fostering both emotional resilience and practical coping strategies.

Our Team

Our team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, and Therapists understand the complexities involved in adjusting to life away from home. We work collaboratively with pastoral teams and students to address a wide range of issues, from managing anxiety, low mood, or isolation to enhancing time-management skills and establishing healthy self-care routines.

For those who may have pre-existing mental health conditions, we can also provide ongoing support and continuity of care, offering supervision and managing medications where necessary.

Who We Help

We see students from all the UK universities as well as students on study abroad programmes, for example with American colleges in London, or attached to British universities for semesters of study. Many of our doctors are or have been tutors to students over the years.

We work with new emergent psychological problems including depression, anxiety, ADHD and attentional problems, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to life in London, and problems emerging from traumatic experiences.

The clinic offers many different modalities and our experienced clinicians will be able to choose the one best suited to one's needs. Therapies may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to address anxiety and depressive symptoms or supportive counselling to explore feelings of loneliness or self-doubt. We recognise the importance of creating a safe, confidential space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, and we are dedicated to providing the support they need to thrive.

We also can manage established mental health problems, for example supervising and providing medication and psychotherapy, taking over from your current psychiatrist or psychologist outside of London.

Contact and Appointments

If you are seeking an appointment with a psychiatrist, you should discuss this first with your GP to obtain a referral. Referrals are also accepted from clinical psychologists and counsellors.

Once you have your referral, please do contact us via our Enquiry Form and one of our team will be in touch without delay.

Overseas referrals are warmly welcomed. We do also see individuals without a family doctor (GP), and we can help you find a private or NHS family doctor.
