Our Clinical Governance
At Sloane Court Clinic, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality care through a comprehensive clinical governance structure.
Making an Appointment
If you are seeking an appointment with a psychiatrist, you should discuss this first with your GP to obtain a referral. Referrals are also accepted from clinical psychologists and counsellors.
Once you have your referral, please do contact us via our Enquiry Form and one of our team will be in touch without delay.
Overseas referrals for patients located in the UK at the time of treatment are warmly welcomed. We do also see individuals without a family doctor (GP), and we can help you find a private or NHS family doctor.
Joining our Team
We are always interested to speak to talented clinicians who might like to join our team. You can read more here.
Our Clinical Governance Committee, chaired by Dr Robert Harland, Consultant Psychiatrist, plays a pivotal role in overseeing this process. The committee meets monthly and includes representatives from across the Operations, Psychiatric and Psychology teams, as well as the Clinical Director, General Manager, and Business Development Lead. Others may be co-opted, and all clinicians may attend to observe and contribute.
Each Committee meeting is minuted, with core outcomes then circulated to the entire Sloane Court Clinic team – both clinical and operational.
In addition to regular meetings, we conduct at least four service audits per year to assess and enhance the quality of our services. We also prioritise Patient Feedback by regularly reviewing responses, ensuring that we continue to meet the needs and expectations of those in our care.
Our governance structure is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, helping us maintain the highest standards in patient safety and care delivery.
The 7 Pillars of Clinical Governance
The 7 Pillars of Clinical Governance are essential in ensuring that private mental health services, like Sloane Court Clinic, maintain the highest standards of care, safety, and accountability. These pillars help guide our approach, ensuring we provide the best possible service to our patients.
Clinical Effectiveness
This pillar ensures that the treatments and interventions we provide are based on the best available evidence. At Sloane Court Clinic, our multidisciplinary team stays informed on the latest research and practices, ensuring that our services meet the highest clinical standards and deliver positive outcomes for patients.
Risk Management
Ensuring patient safety is at the heart of our service.
We actively identify and manage risks, from individual patient care plans to broader operational risks. This includes thorough risk assessments for treatment plans and regular reviews to mitigate potential harm, creating a safe and supportive environment for all patients.
Patient and Public Involvement
Feedback from our patients plays a crucial role in shaping the care we provide.
By regularly reviewing patient feedback and encouraging open communication, we can adapt and improve our services to meet the needs of those we serve, fostering a patient-centered approach.
Audit and Clinical Effectiveness
Regular clinical audits ensure that we monitor, measure, and continually improve the quality of our care.
At Sloane Court Clinic, we complete at least four service audits each year, allowing us to identify areas of excellence and areas for improvement, ensuring our care is effective and continuously evolving.
Staffing and Staff Management
Delivering high-quality mental health care depends on a skilled and well-supported team.
We ensure that our clinical staff, from psychiatrists to psychologists, are fully trained, supervised, and have access to continuous professional development. This commitment ensures that our team is equipped to deliver expert care in a compassionate and effective manner.
Education and Training
Continuous learning is key to maintaining clinical excellence.
Our staff are encouraged to participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, ensuring that they are up to date with the latest advancements in mental health care and best practices. This supports our ability to offer cutting-edge treatments to our patients.
Engagement in continuous professional development is routine, and we frequently hold training sessions with staff on a range of Operational areas.
Information Management
Proper documentation and management of patient information are essential for effective care.
At Sloane Court Clinic, we ensure that patient records are securely managed, with clear, accurate, and confidential documentation. This allows for seamless communication between care providers, ensuring each patient’s care plan is personalised and well-coordinated.
To further strength this area, we retain an Information Governance Consultant, who also holds the posts of Chief Privacy and Assurance Officer and Data Protection Officer at a major NHS Trust.
By integrating these pillars into our clinical governance framework, Sloane Court Clinic is committed to delivering safe, effective, and patient-focused mental health services that continually evolve to meet the needs of those we serve. We acknowledge the role of the CQC in teaching us the importance of having sound governance at the centre of our clinical operation.
