Dr Zain Sadiq

Dr. Zain Sadiq is a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist with over twenty five years of experience in clinical psychiatry and in medical leadership roles. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK in 2021 for delivering high quality care and for leading on service transformation, innovation and quality improvement.
Dr Sadiq works at the South London and Maudsley NHS foundation trust, a globally renowned mental health organisation with strong academic and research links. He currently leads a front line South London community mental health team . He has also worked in various other settings including in patient wards and crisis and home treatment teams.
Dr Sadiq was an Associate Medical director for the last 7 years. He is the Lewisham Mental health lead for Southeast London Integrated care board where he is involved in developing and delivering mental health services in partnership with a range of stake holders including local community, voluntary sector and primary care partners.
Dr Sadiq specialises in the diagnosis, management and enabling recovery from of a range of mental health conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress and trauma related disorders, self-harm, relationship and personality issues, psychosis and co- morbid drug and alcohol use. He works closely with cutting edge research experts in his organisation to deliver the best evidence based care for his patients.
Dr Sadiq has experience of assessing and managing Adult ADHD patients. He has expertise in assessing Mental capacity including capacity to manage finances and writing legal reports pertaining to this subject matter.
Apart from his commitment to delivering high quality patient care, Dr Sadiq is a well-respected and experienced Medical leader. Dr Sadiq has led on several large scale transformation projects including community mental health transformation and re-establishing the acute and crisis pathway, which provided a single point of access to referrals, reduced out of area admissions, reduced community waiting times and improved length of stay with positive patient and carer feedback.
Dr Sadiq has taught undergraduate and post graduate medical students and is an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Kings medical school. He is also a clinical and educational supervisor and has recruited and line managed several Consultant Psychiatrists over the last number of years.
Dr Sadiq is passionate about mental health advocacy and regularly engages in community outreach to promote awareness and reduce stigma around mental illness. He continues to work with stake holders in developing services and practices aimed at reducing health care inequalities.
