We are experienced in the assessment and treatment of women with psychiatric and psychological problems before, during and after pregnancy, termed perinatal / puerperal psychological problems.
Starting a family is a life-altering experience, which can bring about a host of new challenges and unexpected difficulties.
Common situations include handling the use of antidepressant medication in pregnancy, managing mood change, postnatal depression and adjustment and coping with being a parent.
At Sloane Court Clinic, we can also provide specialised, compassionate support for both mothers and fathers during the post-partum period, understanding the range of emotional challenges that can emerge at this time.
From the transient feelings of sadness and exhaustion commonly known as the “baby blues” to the more persistent and complex symptoms of post-partum depression (PPD) and anxiety, we’re here to offer dedicated care, tailored to your unique needs.
Our team includes both perinatal psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, each highly trained in perinatal mental health to provide holistic support during this crucial period. Together, they bring a depth of expertise to address each aspect of perinatal well-being, working with you to create a personalised plan that respects your experiences and goals.
Our perinatal psychiatrists are here to evaluate and, where appropriate, provide medical treatment options that are safe for both parent and baby. They work closely with each individual to ensure a balanced approach that addresses mental health effectively and thoughtfully.
Complementing this, our clinical psychologists offer a range of therapeutic techniques designed to help with managing emotional challenges. These might include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for addressing negative thought patterns, as well as supportive counselling to process the life changes that come with new parenthood.
Family or couple’s therapy is also available to foster open communication and shared support, as partners adapt together to the demands of this new stage.
Whether you’re feeling sadness, anxiety, irritability, or simply in need of a safe, supportive space, Sloane Court Clinic provides a comprehensive team approach to perinatal care.
With our combined expertise in psychiatry and psychology, we are dedicated to supporting your emotional well-being, helping you and your family navigate this period with confidence, connection, and renewed strength.

Contact and Appointments
If you are seeking an appointment with a psychiatrist, you should discuss this first with your GP to obtain a referral. Referrals are also accepted from clinical psychologists and counsellors.
Once you have your referral, please do contact us via our Enquiry Form and one of our team will be in touch without delay.
Overseas referrals are warmly welcomed. We do also see individuals without a family doctor (GP), and we can help you find a private or NHS family doctor.
