Where can loved ones find support whilst caring for someone with dementia?

Caring for a loved one with dementia can be a huge challenge - emotionally, physically, energetically and - sometimes - financially.

However with an estimated 1 million people currently living with the diagnosis in the UK, there is also a strong network of charity and community-based support options specifically designed for carers. They provide everything from expert advice and guidance, a community to turn to, social opportunities, specialised nursing support, and, quite simply, a sympathetic listening ear.

Old Age Specialist Psychiatrist Dr Ruth Cairns talks us through the help that is available, as well as gives her advice on practical aspects carers might consider.
