What should I do if I think someone has an eating disorder?
Eating Disorders are often silent, private, closely guarded and - for some - a maladaptive but thought necessary part of making it through the day.
The impact of eating disorders can be life changing, and life threatening, and all of the evidence points to early intervention as the strongest indicator of positive outcome. That is to say, the sooner that professional help is sought, the better the chances of recovery, and a healthier, happier life.
But what should you do if you’re worried that a loved one has an eating disorder? How should you approach it? What should you say? Who should you call? Clinical psychologist Ms Ilse du Preez talks us through her approach.
