Do doctors have therapy too?
It is a very reasonable thing to wonder whether your mental health doctor, be it Psychiatrist, Psychologist or Psychotherapist, also has their own therapist.
After all, if they spend all day supporting people with their issues, who helps them with their own challenges?
Conversely, you might feel a slight concern if you hear that your mental health doctor is seeing a therapist - does that mean they’re unwell?
Fortunately for everyone, it is very common practice for all mental health doctors to have their own therapeutic support - be that in a one-to-one therapist setting, or in peer support groups. As humans too, everyone needs space to decompress and talk through their thoughts and feelings.
