Holistic prevention and management of physical health side-effects of psychotropic medication: second report of the Lancet Psychiatry Physical Health Commission
"Stemming from part 3 of The Lancet Psychiatry Commission: a blueprint for protecting physical health in people with mental illness from 2019, this Commission report provides an expanded and structured systems-based overview of psychotropic side-effects and their management strategies relevant to the use of antipsychotics, mood stabilisers, and antidepressants in mental health globally.
We performed an umbrella review of the literature to characterise the risk of side-effects associated with these psychotropics and synthesise evidence-based management approaches.
This work is guided by people with lived experience of mental illness and incorporates their perspectives, experiences, and preferences in relation to psychotropic prescription and side-effect management. A panel of international experts was consulted to ensure a perspective with global relevance."
