Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Services

Our specialist psychiatrists and psychologists offer fully NICE-guidelines compliant diagnostic assessments for adults who suspect they may be autistic. This assessment will consist of one 3-hour appointment and a second 1 hour appointment. You will also need to have at least one 30 minute follow-up appointment once you have received your report. This includes a MDT assessment using a gold standard assessment tool (usually the Autism Diagnostic Interview-ADI-R and / or the Autism Diagnostic Observational Schedule - ADI-R / ADOS-2).

We recommend that you bring someone who knows you well to the assessment where possible. This can be a parent, sibling, other relative or carer, partner, or friend. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that not everyone has someone they feel comfortable asking to join for the assessment and it is usually possible to complete the assessment regardless.

Presently Dr Caryl Marshall and Dr Maria Jalmbrant complete ASD assessments, working in partnership.

Our assessing clinicians are also general or neurodevelopmental specialists with deep expertise in ASD.  They are therefore well equipped to approach diagnosis in a broad and holistic manner, considering your general mental health. This allows them supporting you with any challenges related to mental health which may exist in lieu of, or in addition to, ASD.

ASD assessments are charged at £2,400 and are structured as a 3-hour appointment, then a 1-hour appointment.

Any further follow-up appointments will then be charged at normal follow-up rates, as needed.

This assessment is 6 hours long in total and is split into two 3-hour appointments and then you will need at least one 30 minute follow up appointment. This includes a general mental health assessment and an interview using a structured clinical tool for ADHD in one appointment and ASD in the second.

Presently Dr Caryl Marshall can complete Combined Adult ADHD and ASD assessments.

The cost for the full Combined Adult ADHD and ASD assessment is £2,945 and 30 minute follow up appointments are charged at £245.

Our specialist psychologists offer specifically adapted psychological therapy for adults with Autism. This may cover a range of issues, including understanding autism and how your brain may process information differently, skills development, stress management, depression, self-harm, anxiety, PDA profiles, social anxiety, anger management, OCD, PTSD, sexuality and identity issues, sensory processing issues, relationships, understanding unwritten rules, building on strengths, career development, reasonable adjustments, student welfare, sleep problems, etc.

We can also offer couples or family therapy where one member of the family (or more) has a diagnosis of ASD.

Presently Dr Maria Jalmbrant and Ms Jess Roberts can offer specialist Autism Psychology.

Each one hour psychology session costs between £200 - £250, depending on clinician.

Whilst an overall time period for psychological work is difficult to quantify, we often find that patients remain engaged for between 6 months and 2 years.

Our specialist Psychologists offer specifically adapted psychological therapy for neurodivergent adults, whether or not you have had a formal diagnosis of Autism or ADHD or you feel that you are likely to meet the diagnostic criteria / have traits. This may cover a range of issues, including managing anxiety, procrastination, OCD, study skills, sensory processing issues, occupational difficulties or feeling that you are held back in your career, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, etc. You may also wish to explore your neurodivergent traits further before you seek formal diagnosis.

Presently Dr Maria Jalmbrant and Ms Jess Roberts offer specialised psychological therapy in the context of Adult ADD / ADHD, ASD or broader neurodivergent traits.

Each one hour psychology session costs between £200 - £250, depending on clinician.
