Substance Use & Mental Health Treatment in London

At the Sloane Court Clinic, we offer comprehensive treatment for individuals dealing with substance use and mental health problems. Our team is committed to providing personalised care tailored to the unique needs of each individual, helping them navigate towards recovery and improved well-being.

What are the signs of Substance Use Disorder?

If your mental health is suffering, it is worth reflecting on your substance use. Often people use substances including alcohol and caffeine to reduce the symptoms of mental distress – self-medication – but often substances can make things worse, leading to a vicious cycle. Using substances can also affect how well psychiatric medications and psychotherapy work. So if substance use is part of the picture for you, addressing it as part of your package of care will help to optimize your mental health.

Addressing your substance use as part of your mental health treatment may make sense if:

  • You find that you are using alcohol or drugs more frequently to cope with your mental health symptoms or with stress

  • You, your family member or your doctor, think that that there may be a relationship between your substance use and your mental ill health

  • You are using more than you had intended to, or find it hard to stay away from drinking/using when you had planned to do so

  • You spend a lot of time in the day thinking about it

  • You find that you are less able to do the things that you would like to do because of your use

  • You feel a sense of regret about things you have done when under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Doctors, family members or friends are concerned about your use

  • You are getting into difficulties with work, financially or with the law because of your use – or you are worried about this

Treatments for Substance Misuse

Our clinic offers a range of evidence-based treatments and therapies to support individuals struggling with substance misuse and poor mental health:

  • Dual Diagnosis Treatment: Our integrated approach addresses both substance use disorder and mental health issues concurrently, providing comprehensive care to promote holistic recovery and well-being.

  • Psychotherapy: Individual and targeted therapy sessions are available to explore underlying issues contributing to substance misuse and mental health challenges, and focus on identifying maladaptive (unhelpful) patterns of behaviour, identifying triggers, and supporting you to develop coping strategies

  • Medication Management: We may also prescribe medications to manage symptoms of mental health conditions or to reduce the risk of relapse from substance misuse.

  • Holistic Therapies: Complementary therapies such as mindfulness, yoga, and art therapy may be incorporated as suggestions into treatment plans to enhance overall well-being and help you reach a more fulfilling life

By offering compassionate care and tailored treatment plans, our clinic aims to empower individuals to overcome the challenges of co-occurring substance misuse and mental health issues, reclaim their lives, and build a brighter future
