  • Dr Doolan charges £180 for an hour’s appointment.
  • For self-pay appointments, the Clinic generally requires payment at the time of making a booking.
  • Dr Doolan now takes the following insurers: Axa, Aviva, Aetna and Vitality. A pre-authorization number is required.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment time may still be liable to be charged, at up to 100% of the appointment fee. This will be at your clinician’s discretion.

Dr Moira Doolan is a UKCP registered Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapist, with extensive experience of assessment and treatment in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services. Dr Doolan has held a number of clinical and senior leadership roles, mainly in the South London and Maudsley NHS trust and associated partners, including Head of Family Therapy and Professional Advisor for CAMHS. Dr Doolan has also worked in Adult Mental Health settings, as a psychiatric social worker. In addition, Dr Doolan has worked in private practice with individuals, couples and families for many years.

As well as employing a range of Systemic interventions, Dr Doolan is experienced in using parenting interventions which are Social Learning and Attachment Theory based. She also draws on Psychodynamic Theory and approaches. Her approach is strength based and collaborative.

Dr Doolan has a particular interest in working with couples and families with complex relationship difficulties. Families and couples can also face acute challenges which emerge at times of transition, loss or following distressing events. Adult family members may seek help to resolve long standing difficulties. Another area of interest for Dr Doolan is working with couples and families who are diverse ethnically and culturally. Dr Doolan also specialises in working with parents whose children are displaying significant behavioural difficulties and has been a Mentor (trainer and supervisor) for the Incredible Years Parent programme for young children, since 1999.

In addition to clinical roles, Dr Doolan has worked in a number of programme roles at national level including lead for Family Therapy and Site Consultant in the pilot of Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care, Head of Evidence Based Programmes in the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners and Parenting Interventions lead for the Frontline Social Work programme.

Dr Doolan also has considerable research experience and has played a clinical leadership role in a number of randomized control trials evaluating parenting and systemic approaches at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at Kings College London. She continues to work part time in research at the IOPPN.

Dr Doolan has extensive experience as a trainer and supervisor in Systemic Psychotherapy and Social Learning Theory Parenting interventions.

Dr Doolan is Canadian and originally trained there as a social worker.
