Dr Edward Chesney

Dr Edward Chesney BM BCh MA (Oxon) PhD MRCPsych is a Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, and an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital. He has worked for the NHS for over a decade.
He completed his medical training at the University of Oxford before undertaking specialist training in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. He has worked as a clinical-academic throughout his career.
Dr Chesney is experienced in the assessment and management of a range of mental health difficulties, including addictions, mood disorders, psychosis, personality difficulties and anxiety disorders. He has a particular interest in working with people who have co-occurring mental health and alcohol or drug use problems.
His research focuses on the interaction between cannabis use and mental health, and the development of novel cannabinoid therapies. He is able to assess and advise patients using cannabis, but does not prescribe cannabis-based medicines at the Sloane Court Clinic.
