Ageing can be associated with all the psychological problems of younger life, but with some particular ones such as cognitive and intellectual change, altered mental capacity, children leaving home and loss of loved ones, work and other aspects of one's life. We regularly help people cope with age-related issues as well as mental illness in later life.
Our Older Age clinic is headed by Dr Ruth Cairns, the Training Programme Director for Old Age Psychiatry at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She specialises in working with older adults and is experienced in the assessment and management of common and severe mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, memory problems and dementia, including complex presentations of dementia.
Contact and Appointments
If you are seeking an appointment with a psychiatrist, you should discuss this first with your GP to obtain a referral. Referrals are also accepted from clinical psychologists and counsellors.
Once you have your referral, please do contact us via our Enquiry Form and one of our team will be in touch without delay.
Overseas referrals are warmly welcomed. We do also see individuals without a family doctor (GP), and we can help you find a private or NHS family doctor.
